Matt Bell, SPE, was named Vice President
of Technology for Geodynamics. Before this appointment, he was Senior
Investment Manager of Shell Technology Ventures. Bell earned an ME degree in
chemical engineering from Imperial College, London.
Fred Chadwick, SPE, was named Director of
Specialist Services for RBG. His experience includes positions with Baker
Hughes Production-Quest, Wood Group, and McDermotts. Chadwick earned a BS
degree in mechanical engineering from Sunderland U. in the United
Kingdom.
Robert L. Gaudin, SPE, was appointed to
the Board of Directors for Cano Petroleum. He is owner of Grande Energy Co.,
Holland Acquisitions, and Extra Energy. Gaudin has more than 30 years of
exploration and land management experience.
Robert R. McBride Jr., SPE, was appointed
Chief Executive Officer of CDX Gas. Before this appointment, he was President
and Chief Operating Officer of CDX Gas. McBride earned a BS degree in petroleum
engineering from the U. of Southwestern Louisiana.

Howard B. Bradley, an SPE Distinguished
Member, died 21 February 2007 in Mansfield, Texas. An SPE member since 1943,
Bradley helped establish the petroleum engineering curriculum in the School of
Mines at the University of Alabama, where he served as Assistant Professor of
Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering in 1949 and 1950.
Bradley earned BS and MS degrees in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas. After his stint at the University of Alabama, Bradley took a job as a senior research engineer for Magnolia Petroleum Co.’s Duncanville research laboratory. He later became Supervisor of Technical Training and then Manager of Corporate Technical Training for Mobil Oil in New York City. After 29 years of service, Bradley retired in 1982.
Bradley was Editor in Chief of the popular SPE Petroleum
Engineering Handbook, published in 1987. He served on the SPE Symbols and
Metrication Committee for many years and also was a member of the Continuing
Education Committee. He received the Society’s Distinguished Service Award and
was recognized as a Distinguished Member, both in 1986. Bradley was also a
member of the Legion of Honor, recognizing 50 years of continuous membership in
SPE.
Bradley is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ophelia Brown Bradley; son
Christopher and daughter-in-law Lynn; daughter Earline Gay Smith; brother James
D. Bradley; and a nephew, niece, and several grandchildren.
